Welcome to my place on the web. My name is Bruce Riggs. I am a programmer who recently graduated from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. My degree is a Bachelor of Science in Game Development; I make video games. =) Please take the time to explore the site and be sure to go to the Past Projects section to see some of the cool work I've done. Thank you.

September 20th, 2011
Wow! I haven't touched this site in awhile. Where to begin? Well. I got a job. Now I'm in Panama City... working my butt off as a contractor programmer. Life is good though! I love being back in Florida. Okay, take care everyone!
June 1st, 2011: Recettear Editor Update (1.03)
More work on my Recettear Editor has been done. I really love that thing. It's currently at version 1.03 and it can now edit the Encyclopedia of the game. Cheaters rejoice!![]() |
May 25th, 2011: A Lot On the Plate!
I've been dabbling in a variety of different projects lately, thus not really getting much done. I'm working on my FAQ for Summoner, my SNES hack program, Recettear Save File Editor, and a personal C++ game project with a friend of mine... all at the same time. So progress is slow in all categories.
May 9th, 2011: Hacking, hacking, hacking... =)
Heh, I did it again. I made another hack program for a game. The game is Recettear (which is amazing, by the way), and the hack program lets you do a lot. It lets you add gold, modify your merchant level, and add/remove items from your inventory. I'm actually in the process of updating it so that you can also edit your Adventurer's gear and base stats. I can't wait to finish that version.![]() ![]() |
April 26th, 2011: Still Job Hunting... =(
I'm still job hunting, but in my spare time I've been making little hack programs for emulators and PC games. I recently finished making a program that hacks Summoner for the PC. Other than that, I hope to have a job soon.![]() |
April 1st, 2011: Job Hunting
Well! What to say, what to say. I've been job hunting. I've actually had some interviews and tests, but I haven't really heard anything from anyone yet that makes me think I'm close to having a job. But I'm not going to let that bring me down as I have a lot of stuff to do, as always. Mini Mech is downloadable on the site now, since my last entry. Also I'm still working on the "About Me" section of this site. And I need to put my current projects on the Current Project page. But I am busy!
February 7th, 2011: Graduated!
Well! Last Friday I graduated from college!!! I also was the Salutatorian of the class, so I'm feeling really pumped right now. In a day or so I'll have my latest project "Minimech: Exterminator" up for download in the past projects section... until then... time to find a job (and something to do)
January 31st, 2011: Global Game Jam
Well, this weekend was the IGDA's Global Game Jam, and I participated in it with some of my friends. We made an amazing little game in the measly 48 hours we had to make it. Here's the end result: Dream 'scape. I'll have this up for download on the site shortly after this.
January 23rd, 2011: New Year, New Beginnings
On February 3rd, Mini-Mech: Exterminator will be presented for the world to see and download. The very next day, February 4th, I will graduate from Full Sail University with my Bachelors degree. Then the job hunt, and life, will begin! Wish me luck, everyone. =)
December 25th, 2010: Merry Christmas!
Well. Our team is on our Holiday Vacation and I just wanted to say Merry Christmas, everyone! =) I hope everyone stays safe. We get back to work for our last month of Final Project starting on January 4th.
November 30th, 2010: No News Is Good News
We got a 93 on our Alpha, and we're 2 weeks away from Beta turn in. Everything is going well so far. I've been working on the Rhino Beetle, and invisible features like frustum culling, line of sight, and bug fixing. Honestly there hasn't been much going on, it's just been work work work. But I think ultimately that no news is good news... or at least is better than bad news. Although I recently did finish a FAQ that teaches people how to hack the saved game files to the PC game Summoner. You can view my FAQ here.
November 15th, 2010: Alpha Turn-In
Alpha Turn-In was today, and it seems to have gone very well for our game. Now it's time to start setting up our milestone acceptance for Beta and begin work towards Beta milestone! I can't wait to see this game go gold! =)
November 3rd, 2010: Youtube
I made a fraps video of our game very pre-Alpha. You can watch it here or at Youtube. PS: Turn your volume down. It's very loud.
October 25th, 2010: Work, work
I've been busy working on our new project, Mini-Mech. We're still in the early phases and everything seems to be smooth so far. I think right now my biggest worry is what the frame rate of the game is going to be like; eventually we're suppose to have swarms of enemies charging at the player, all updating their AI, all colliding with the world, the player, and each other, every frame... makes me wonder. Anyways, I posted some more screenshots of our game as progress is made.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
October 16th, 2010: New Project
Sadly, 'Till Dawn was cancelled, and I am now working on a new project. Rest in peace, 'Till Dawn. Our new game is called Mini-Mech, it's about a tiny exterminator robot who kills bugs. It's a top down shooter game like Smash TV. I'll have a page going for it soon enough so be sure to keep an eye on my Current Projects section.
August 24th, 2010: Collisions Completed!
The collisions for 'Till Dawn are completed! They work so beautifully, quickly, and efficiently, and as far as I know, they are bug free! It's great to see your hard work pay off on something. I've also worked on the spatial partitioning, AI, and culling systems.
August 11th, 2010: Collisions
Well, I've been working away at the Collisions of Till Dawn, and I have to say, they're really starting to smooth out. I'm loving it. There's been a lot of progress on our game. I think once Collisions are 100% done, I'm going to turn my focus towards the AI of our game. I've always had an interest in that...
August 8th, 2010: Milestones, Partitioning
Well, I've been busy working on our team project 'Til Dawn, and tomorrow our Core Milestone is due. We finished and I think it's going to be a good turn in. Today a coworker and I had to revamp our partition system, and you can read all about that in my blog.
August 3rd, 2010: Blog
As predicted, I put a blog up on the site. You can access my blog through the Blog link on the navigation to the left. Also, I got some screenshots for the current project I'm working on... 'Til Dawn. Here's some quickie thumbnails for the lazy people... ![]() You should check it out! And now... I need to sleep.
August 1st, 2010: Site Progress
Well, now the résumé has been finished, and I can focus on posting more about my current projects in the Current Projects section. Also I've been thinking about throwing up a blog on this site that will use Word Press. If I do so, it will be accessible on the Navigation pane via a Blog link.
July 22nd, 2010: Current Projects Added!
Everything's been going smoothly, although a bit slowly. I'm still in Final Project at school so I don't always have the free time to work on this site. Our project Til Dawn is going smoothly so I made the Current Projects section and added that project to it. I have more than 1 Current Project but currently Til Dawn is the only one you can read about. =P
June 15th, 2010: Past Projects Completed!
The Past Projects section of the website has been completed! Now I just need to get About Me, Résumé, and Current Projects up.
June 15th, 2010: Even More Progress
I got rid of many of the 404's this site had going on. I don't think there are any other 404's on my site at the moment. However I still have a lot of work to get done. I also have to upload all of my projects to the server.
June 10th, 2010: More Progress
I've been working on the "Past Projects" section, trying to get all the past projects of mine uploaded to this website in a downloadable version. I don't quite have everything uploaded yet, so really not a single section of this site is finished. But I don't always have free time. I'm also in the middle of Final Project at Full Sail right now...
June 8th, 2010: Progress
I've gotten some more work done on this site. It's not quite up to where I want it to be yet, but I've still got time to get it done.
June 6th, 2010: Site Launched
My name is Bruce Riggs. I am currently a programmer student nearing graduation at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. My degree is a Bachelor of Science in Game Development; I make video games. =) I registered and launched bruceariggs.com to serve as a online documentary of the projects I've previously worked on, the projects I'm currently working on, and to host my Résumé online.
